Overview

The Parker-Adams Year is a freshman learning community designed to support students’ academic and personal success during their first year at The University of Alabama. The program intentionally connects classroom and residential experiences through a one-credit course each semester (AS 110/111), along with social and cultural engagement opportunities.

Participants benefit from close support from dedicated faculty, staff, and Parker-Adams Fellows who assist with academic advising, personal challenges, campus involvement, and career readiness. The program is built to help students thrive academically, socially, and personally while developing strong foundations for future success.

Key features of the Parker-Adams Year include:

  • A strong focus on connection, leadership, and real-world preparation
  • Individualized support from program staff and Fellows
  • Guidance with academics, time management, and goal setting
  • A consistent mentor who checks in, supports, and advocates for you
  • Personalized support tailored to each student’s needs

In addition, AS 110 will fulfill your required first year compass course.
